WE DID IT! WE WON RE-ELECTION TO THE CABARRUS COUNTY SCHOOL BOARD
It was a nail-biter but we pulled it off and won re-election for another four year term on the school board.
When early voting totals were announced, I was in 5th place and down over 1,000 votes to the candidate in 4th place. Election day precinct results were announced about every half hour and my deficit continued to get smaller until the final ones were released and I jumped into fourth place with a small 300 vote lead to claim a seat again on the Cabarrus County Board of Education. It was a strong showing on election day and a decent showing for one-stop voting. I'll need to work on the absentee mail in voters if I ever run again.
I want to express my sincere appreciation to every one who voted for me. We needed every vote this time. Also a huge thank you to all those that supported our campaign in so many ways, many giving of their time to help out at a poll on election day.
I am honored to be giving another opportunity to help lead our school system to new levels and overcoming the challenges that Covid had brought. I promise to give my all and to listen to you, our stakeholders, before making key decisions.
To the other candidates on the ballot, thank you for caring and for running this cycle. For those who will be joining me on the board, congratulations! I look forward to working with you and finding solutions to the challenges we face. To those that didn't make it, hold your head up, there are thousands that appreciated you running and supported your message and priorities. Stay involved, your perspective is needed and valued.
To my colleagues who will be leaving the board after this month, thank you for your service to the students, staff, and families of Cabarrus County Schools. I've learned for each of you and have appreciated the time serving together. I know you will continue to do good things in this community because you have a servant heart.
To my family, thank you for your unwavering support, help, and sacrifices you have made to all me to serve this God directed mission as a school board member. I love you always.
God Bless you all!

Rob Walter Files for Re-election for Cabarrus County School Board
With his family on Friday, December 6th, 2019, a significant date to Rob as it would have been his parents 50th anniversary, he filed paperwork to run for reelection to the Cabarrus County Board of Education. Rob will be on the ballot as Robert (Rob) Walter in November 2020 since there is no primary for School Board races since they are non-partisan in Cabarrus County.
Rob had the following message to voters and his supporters:
"I'm excited to announce that I will be running for re-election to the Cabarrus County School Board in 2020. Running for reelection will take a lot of resources, time, and effort that I'm willing to put in. Being successful takes a team and I will need your help, support, and vote. Please consider getting involved: Volunteer, put out a sign, contribute financially, and help get out our message to voters.

Election Day 2020 will be Tuesday, November 3rd
Your vote will be really important as there are a lot of candidates who will be running for four seats up for election in 2020.
I'm again asking for your support and for your vote on November 3rd, 2020 to continue to make a positive difference on the Cabarrus County Board of Education.
Its been a privilege serving our community providing a voice for our citizens and families. We have helped shape positive changes to CCS over the last several years as shown by a substantial list of accomplishments during my time on the board. Please watch our past meetings, speak to school staff, and community members and judge for yourself as how I have been doing as well as the board as a whole.
I’m a parent of two CCS students. Like you, I want the best schools for our children and community. I believe in parental involvement, engaging students, community partnerships, supporting great teachers and staff as keys to make that happen.
This election cycle you have a choice. Experience and track record are important factors to consider when making your decision. I hope to you will choose to allow me to continue to move forward with the many things that have been started these past eight years as well as some new ideas that will make a positive difference for our students, staff, and community.

Signs, Signs, and More Signs
Today is the official day candidate signs can be placed on Roadway right of ways. I'll be placing about 200 signs over the next couple weeks. If you would like to help, or know of a good place where a sign will get a lot of looks, please let me know.
It is against the law to remove or deface a legally placed sign so if you see anyone tampering with one, please let the police know what you saw if someone is observed tampering with them. Also, its helpful to let the candidate know where you saw one disappear so that they can replaced if possible.
Signs can also still be placed in yards or businesses that approve the placement.
After the election, Candidate have 10 days to remove all their signs from the roadways. Your help is appreciated with that task if you can pick one up, let me know and I'll come get them from you to possible use again in the future.

Get to know your Candidates
Have you seen your sample ballot? You can take a look at your ballot and then learn about your candidates by visiting the Cabarrus County Board of Elections website: https://cabarruscounty.us/resources/sample-ballots
Once you know who you are voting for please take time to research the candidates so you can vote for someone who shares your values and views that can represent you in that office.
For the Cabarrus County School Board election, you will find 12 candidates on the back sider of your ballot. The last name on the ballot is not actively seeking a seat anymore. The other 10 do want your vote and most of them have either social media page, a website, or have participated in a number of the candidate forums (recorded on youtube) for you to get a feel for who that are and what their values, passions, and priorities are.
In addition to myself, there are two other incumbents running (Cindy Fertenbaugh and David Harrison) and one former school board member (Tim Furr) on the ballot in addition to one experienced candidate and several newcomers. You may vote for up to four candidates. I will not endorse any other candidates as we are all competing and if reelected, I will need to serve with and develop a working relations with.

Early Voting Starts Thursday, October 15th at Four Locations in Cabarrus County
One-stop absentee voting (commonly known as "early voting") allows any registered voter to cast an absentee ballot in person on select days prior to Election Day. Unlike on Election Day, when registered voters can only vote at their specific precinct, one-stop voting allows registered voters to vote at any one-stop absentee voting site in the County. One-stop sites will have all the ballot styles for a given election at each site.
Several of the early voting locations are different this year so that social distancing can take place. Voters are asked to wear a mask when voting this year. The Four locations will generally be open from 8 AM until 7:30 PM weekdays, 8 AM until 3 PM Saturdays, and new this year, Sunday hours from 1 PM to 5 PM.
The Early Voting Locations are:
Northern Plaza (old Northern Tool space) - 840 Concord PKWY N., Concord, NC 28027
Cabarrus Arena- - 4751 NC HWY 49, Concord, NC 28025
Embassy Suites - 5400 JOHN Q. HAMMONS DR NW, Concord, NC 28027
Kannapolis Train Depot - 201 S MAIN ST, Kannapolis, NC 28081
If you have time during any of these 17 days and would like to help our our campaign by greeting voters at one of these locations and encouraging them to "Vote for Rob" would be greatly appreciated. Send me a message with times and I'll provide details.

Early Voting Has Begun!
Its been a busy start to early voting in Cabarrus County. Some locations had over 2 hour wait time to vote for those that came early in the morning. Wait times reduced throughout the day with several times having almost no wait at all for people to vote. Cabarrus County Board of Elections team is well prepared and most voting is going smoothly. Remember you have to be a resident of Cabarrus to vote in Cabarrus.
Also new this year is a wait times tool to give you an idea of how long the wait times are at each of the early voting locations. Please take advantage of this if you plan to vote early. https://electionpolling.cabarruscounty.us/public-wait-times.php
As of the end of the day Friday 12,160 Early Voting ballots were cast and 10,978 mail-in ballots were received accounting for over 15% of total possible voters have already voted and there are still 14 days of early voting left!
